L’ENGAGEMENT EUROPÉEN DU LYCÉE RAVEL : UNE ACTION RECONNUE PUBLIQUEMENT À L’OCCASION DES CÉRÉMONIES DU 18 JUIN 2026

 

RAVEL HIGH SCHOOL'S EUROPEAN COMMITMENT: AN ACTION PUBLICLY RECOGNIZED DURING THE CEREMONIES OF JUNE 18, 2026

Son excellence M l’Ambassadeur de Pologne en France était présent ce jeudi 18 juin lors des cérémonies officielles organisées par la municipalité pour,  d’une part, commémorer l’appel fameux lancé par le général de Gaulle en 1940 afin d’inciter les Français  à la Résistance et, d’autre part, célébrer l’opération ARIEL à Saint-Jean-de-Luz. M le sénateur Max Brisson, les élus locaux de Ciboure et Saint-Jean-de-luz, des représentants des anciens combattants et d'association intéressées par les enjeux mémoriaux et la coopération franco-polonaise (parmi lesquelles la Ligue ILARGIA , dont le siège est situé dans la cité scolaire Ravel).

His Excellency the Ambassador of Poland to France was present on Thursday, June 18th, at the official ceremonies organized by the municipality to commemorate General de Gaulle's famous appeal of 1940, urging the French to join the Resistance, and to celebrate Operation ARIEL in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Also present were Senator Max Brisson, local elected officials from Ciboure and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, representatives of veterans' associations, and members of organizations interested in memorial issues and Franco-Polish cooperation (including the ILARGIA League, headquartered in the Ravel school complex).

A l’issue des deux hommages officiels (le premier au monument aux morts, le second devant la stèle posée sur la façade latérale de la mairie) le haut représentant de la République de Pologne a remis deux médailles distinguant  M le Maire, Jean-François Irigoyen, et le M le Président Honoraire de l’association «Amitiés Pays Basque  – Pologne» ancien adjoint en charge des anciens combattants, Jean-Luc Casteret,  à l’origine d’un effort entrepris par la Ville dès 2020, pour renforcer les relations franco-polonaises et faire reconnaître l’action de la Pologne dans la libération de la France et la lutte contre l’Axe, mais aussi la coopération entre soldats polonais et pêcheurs basques lors de la grande opération d’évacuation de juin 1940, où 9000 personnes embarquèrent depuis notre baie à destination de ports britanniques.

At the end of the two official tributes (the first at the war memorial, the second in front of the stele placed on the side facade of the town hall) the high representative of the Republic of Poland presented two medals distinguishing the Mayor, Jean-François Irigoyen, and the Honorary President of the association “Friendships Basque Country – Poland” former deputy in charge of veterans, Jean-Luc Casteret, who initiated an effort undertaken by the City from 2020 onwards, to strengthen Franco-Polish relations and to have Poland’s action in the liberation of France and the fight against the Axis recognized, but also the cooperation between Polish soldiers and Basque fishermen during the great evacuation operation of June 1940, where 9000 people embarked from our bay bound for British ports.

 

Dans son discours, M l’Ambassadeur a souligné combien, à ses yeux, la lutte pour la Liberté était aussi un combat pour la Paix et la Sécurité, et s’est félicité de l’ampleur des activités menées dans la cité des Corsaires pour honorer la mémoire des soldats polonais et entretenir la flamme de l’amitié entre les deux nations française et polonaise ; à ce titre, il a nommément mentionné les projets ERASMUS+ du Lycée Ravel et la collaboration étroite entre ce dernier et le Lycée de Kwidzyn (Społeczne Liceum im. Polskich Noblistów w Kwidzynie).

 

In his speech, the Ambassador stressed how, in his view, the struggle for Freedom was also a fight for Peace and Security, and welcomed the scale of the activities carried out in the city of Corsairs to honor the memory of Polish soldiers and to maintain the flame of friendship between the two nations, French and Polish; in this regard, he specifically mentioned the ERASMUS+ projects of the Lycée Ravel and the close collaboration between the latter and the Lycée de Kwidzyn (Społeczne Liceum im. Polskich Noblistów w Kwidzynie).

Ce dernier était encore tout récemment en visite chez nous (du 25 au 29 mai) ce qui a été l’occasion de l’installation  dans la cour de l’établissement, par l'entremise de M Jean Hélou, des panneaux de l’exposition ARIEL, conçue par la Ville et l’Office National des Anciens Combattants.

 

Pour Pomeranian partner was recently visiting us (from May 25 to 29), which provided the opportunity to install the ARIEL exhibition panels in the schoolyard, through Mr. Jean Hélou, designed by the City and the National Office for Veterans (ONACVG).

En marge de la manifestation, P-L Vanderplancke, enseignant référent (ERAEI) du lycée, a eu l’opportunité de discuter de projets futurs portant sur l’Histoire et la Mémoire des conflits mondiaux avec M Maxime Saint-Germes, Directeur de l’ONACVG des Pyrénées-Atlantiques, organisme qui avait labellisé les activités de commémoration des 80 ans de la Libération implantées au Lycée Ravel en 2025 dans le cadre du  colloque DONIBANE Scholar co-organisé avec la Ligue ILARGIA.  

Alongside the event, P-L Vanderplancke, the school's Erasmus+ coordinator (ERAEI), had the opportunity to discuss future projects on the History and Memory of world conflicts with M Maxime Saint-Germes, Director of the ONACVG of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the organization that had certified the commemoration activities of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation implemented at the Lycée Ravel in 2025 as part of the DONIBANE Scholar colloquium co-organized with the ILARGIA League.

MARCHER POUR LA LIBERTÉ ET DÉFENDRE SES DROITS : conclusion du projet Fight For Freedom pour l'année scolaire en cours

Le Lycée Ravel travaille à distance grâce au dispositif international ACMÉ (d'éducation à la citoyenneté). Dans ce cadre, il a notamment échangé, en 2025-2026, des photographies réalisées dans le cadre d'un grand jeu de rôle dédié aux Libertés.

L'ensemble des productions réalisées ont été montrées ce jeudi 29 mai,  à l'occasion de la présence de délégations venues de sept écoles secondaires européennes dont certaines participent au réseau ACMÉ, coordonné par la Ligue ILARGIA.

A l'issue d'un débat très enrichissant, les élèves ont choisi un tableau et l'ont interprété, avec le soutien des professeurs.

L'oeuvre retenue et un tableau italien de 1901 représentant le quatrième état (les pauvres) en lutte pour être reconnu...

Ravel High School is working remotely thanks to the international ACMÉ (Citizenship Education) program. As part of this initiative, during the 2025-2026 academic year, the school exchanged photographs created for a large-scale role-playing game focused on Freedoms.

All of the resulting projects were exhibited on Thursday, May 29th, during a visit from delegations from seven European secondary schools, some of which participate in the ACMÉ network, coordinated by the ILARGIA League.

Following a very enriching discussion, the students chose a painting and interpreted it, with the support of their teachers.

The selected artwork is an Italian painting from 1901 depicting the Fourth Estate (the poor) struggling for dignity...

GDANSK ET KWIDZYN en avril / ACMÉ MOBILITY IN POLAND by Lycée Ravel and Społeczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące im Polskich Noblistów w Kwidzynie

 

Arrivés à Gdansk le 26 avril au soir, les terminales (BFI et Germanistes) présents dans le cadre de la mobilité accréditée PRINTEMPS POLONAIS 2026 ont visité le quartier de leur hôtel, à Gdansk, le matin du lundi 27 avril. Les seize élèves participants et leurs professeurs, M Vanderplancke et M Puyjalon, ont ensuite été rejoints par leurs homologues du lycée de Kwidzyn, pour visiter tous ensemble et  avant midi la Westerplatte, le lieu où débuta la seconde guerre mondiale. Une première journée très bien remplie, puisque, après un repas typique pris en commun dans un restaurant du centre-ville (la découverte de celui-ci étant facilitée par des exposés faits par les élèves de Kwidzyn) l'après-midi fut consacrée à la visite du Centre Solidarnosc. L'agenda du mardi 28 fut dominé par des ateliers de socialisation et l'intégration dans le lycée partenaire ; toutefois, l'ouverture culturelle n'a pas été pas négligée (tout au contraire, les apprenants et leurs professeurs ont réalisé une visite transnationale de la cathédrale de kwidzyn). Des ateliers éducatifs (dans le prolongement des premiers travaux entamés la veille) furent mis en oeuvre le mercredi 29 mais surtout, une "soirée" comprenant  des jeux et des collaborations ludiques (cuisine, repas, quizz, et danses - ce qui tombait bien, par le hasard du calendrier : cette journée du 29 étant en effet dédiée à la célébration de la danse, partout dans le monde). L'étude de l'histoire de la Shoah et de la seconde guerre mondiale fut enfin au coeur des activités du jeudi 30 avril (visites du camp de concentration de Stutthof et du Musée de Gdansk consacré au conflit). Pour achever de réfléchir à la résilience et conclure la mobilité par un moment   plus touristique, on gagna la station balnéaire de Sopot le 1er mai, avant  de rejoindre l'aéroport pour s'envoler après 18 heures en direction de Bordeaux, via Amsterdam.

Arriving in Gdansk on the evening of April 26, the final-year students (BFI and German Studies) participating in the accredited Polish Spring 2026 mobility program visited the neighborhood of their hotel in Gdansk on the morning of Monday, April 27. 

The sixteen participating students and their teachers, Mr. Vanderplancke and Mr. Puyjalon, were then joined by their counterparts from the Kwidzyn high school to visit Westerplatte, the site where the Second World War began, before noon.It was a very full first day, as after a typical meal together in a downtown restaurant (the discovery of which was facilitated by presentations given by the Kwidzyn students), the afternoon was devoted to a visit to the Solidarity Center. 

Tuesday the 28th: agenda was dominated by socialization workshops and integration into the partner high school. However, cultural enrichment was not neglected (quite the contrary, the students and their teachers undertook a transnational visit to Kwidzyn Cathedral). Educational workshops (a continuation of the initial work begun the previous day) were held on Wednesday the 29th, but above all, an "evening" included games and playful collaborations (cooking, meals, quizzes, and dancing – which was a fitting coincidence, as the 29th was International Dance Day).The study of the history of the Holocaust and the Second World War was the focus of activities on Thursday, April 30th (visits to the Stutthof concentration camp and the Gdansk Museum dedicated to the conflict). To further explore resilience and conclude the exchange with a more touristic experience, the group traveled to the seaside resort of Sopot on May 1st, before heading to the airport for a flight after 6 p.m. to Bordeaux, via Amsterdam.

LE SERMENT DU JEU DE PAUME Lancement du projet ACMÉ Fight.For.Freedom 2026

 

Le lycée Ravel et la Ligue ILARGIA proposent en 2026 un jeu de rôle historique à leurs partenaires européens. 

La classe de Première BFI a pris l'initiative de leur proposer un modèle en vue de réaliser cette activité et ont pris la pose ce mercredi 14 janvier, pour représenter le "serment du jeu de paume" par lequel, en 1789, débuta la Révolution (d'après l'oeuvre de J-L David). Ravel High School and the ILARGIA League are offering a historical role-playing game to their European partners. The Première BFI class took the initiative to create on 14 january a model by posing to represent the Tennis Court Oath (serment du Jeu de Paume) which, on 20 june 1789, began the French Revolution.

Toutes les écoles secondaires du réseau ACMÉ sont invitées à choisir librement un tableau, un dessin ou une photographie célèbre (à moins qu'elle ne décrive un événement qui le soit et qui paraisse aisément reconnaissable, au moins aux yeux des lycéens locaux) pour illustrer le combat pour la Liberté et les valeurs démocratiques. All secondary schools in the ACMÉ network are invited to freely choose a famous painting, drawing or photograph (unless it depicts a famous event and appears easily recognizable, at least to local high school students) to illustrate the fight for Freedom and democratic values.. 

L'ensemble des productions seront partagées et commentées dans le twinspace "PALDIES" (nom du nouveau projet de coopération à distance créé conjointement en décembre par le lycée Ravel de Saint-Jean-de-Luz et le lycée de Baldone - près de Riga, en Lettonie). Sont invités à collaborer dans ce cadre tous nos actuels partenaires : notamment quatre écoles secondaires du Pays Basque et des lycées situés au Portugal, en Italie, Roumanie, Allemagne, Pologne et Turquie.. plus tous ceux qui viendront s'ajouter. All the productions will be shared and discussed in the "PALDIES" twinspace (name of the new remote cooperation project created jointly in December by the Ravel high school in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and the Baldone high school situated near Riga, Latvia). All our current partners are invited: including four secondary schools in the Basque Country and high schools located in Portugal, Italy, Romania, Germany, Poland, and Turkey... and all those who will join us later.
